1965 Mustang Torque Specs

    • The spark plugs must be tightened to between 15 and 20 ft.-lb. of torque.

    • Each cylinder head bolt must be tightened to between 65 and 70 ft.-lb. of torque.

    • Each intake manifold bolt must be tightened to between 12 and 15 ft.-lb. of torque.

    • Each exhaust manifold bolt must be tightened to between 13 and 18 ft.-lb. of torque.

    • Generally, each rod bolt must be tightened to between 19 and 24 ft.-lb. of torque. If the Mustang is equipped with the high performance 289 engine, the bolts must be tightened to between 40 and 45 ft.-lb.

    • Each main bearing bolt must be tightened to between 60 and 70 ft.-lb. of torque.

    • Each flywheel bolt must be tightened to between 75 and 85 ft.-lb. of torque.

    • The vibration dampener bolt must be tightened to between 70 and 90 ft.-lb. of torque.
